1. Who we are, and what this covers
This policy applies to the Daily Hifzul Quran mobile app on iOS and Android (app identifier com.dailyhifzulquran.app), published by the Daily Muslim team. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean that team. By installing or using Daily Hifzul Quran you agree to what is described here. If you do not agree, please stop using the app and uninstall it.
2. Using the app without an account
Daily Hifzul Quran has no login. Reading the Mushaf, memorizing, taking voice and written hifz tests, reviewing your Hifz Journal, tracking progress, and reading word-by-word meaning, translation and tafsir all work without signing in, and much of it works fully offline once content is downloaded.
The app still contacts our servers to download the content you ask for (see section 4). None of those requests carries a name, email address or account identifier. As with any web request, our hosting provider sees the IP address it came from and uses it only for routing, rate limiting and abuse prevention; we do not store it alongside anything about you.
3. The microphone and recitation checking
The heart of the app is reciting aloud, so with your permission it uses the microphone in two ways:
- Recording your recitation for private playback. When you record a session, the audio is saved on your device — in your Hifz Journal — so you can listen back. These recordings stay on the device and are not uploaded to us.
- The live recitation check. To follow your reading and highlight possible mistakes word by word, your speech has to be turned into text. Daily Hifzul Quran uses your device's built-in speech recognition for this (Apple's speech recognition on iPhone and iPad; the device's speech service on Android).
To convert speech to Arabic text, your device's operating system may send the audio to Apple (on iOS) or to the device's speech provider (on Android) for processing, under their privacy policies — exactly as the keyboard dictation button does. This is a function of your phone, not of our servers: Daily Hifzul Quran itself does not transmit, store or receive your voice. The app only receives the recognized text back on the device to decide which words matched.
You can decline or later revoke microphone and speech-recognition permission in your device's settings. The recitation check will stop working, but the rest of the app continues to function.
4. The content you download
To keep the app small, the Qur'an text, word-by-word data, translations, tafsir and Mushaf page images are downloaded on demand from our content servers. These downloads are anonymous: they request a file, not a profile, and they carry no name, email or account identifier. Once downloaded, content is stored encrypted on your device.
5. What stays on your device
Everything the app learns about your hifz lives on your phone and never leaves it through us: your memorization lessons and progress, test results, the Hifz Journal and its recordings, bookmarks, reading position, your weak spots, and your settings. We cannot see any of it. If you back up your phone through iCloud or Google, that backup is governed by Apple's or Google's terms, not ours.
6. What we do not collect
Daily Hifzul Quran does not:
- ask you to create an account or give a name, email or phone number;
- contain any advertising, advertising identifier or ad network;
- include any third-party analytics, attribution or tracking SDK;
- request your location, contacts, calendar, photos or camera;
- sell, rent or share your data with anyone.
7. Permissions the app uses
- Microphone — to record your recitation and run the live check (section 3).
- Speech recognition (iOS) — to turn your recitation into text for the check.
- Internet — to download the content you choose (section 4).
- Keep the screen awake — so the page does not dim while you read or recite.
The app asks for nothing else.
8. Children
Daily Hifzul Quran is suitable for all ages and is safe for children. Because it has no account and collects no personal information, it does not knowingly collect data from children or anyone else.
9. Security
Content downloads travel over HTTPS, and downloaded content is stored encrypted at rest on your device. Because your study data and recordings stay on the device and we keep no account for you, there is no personal profile on our side to be exposed.
10. Your choices and deleting your data
You are in control. You can turn microphone access on or off in your device settings, delete individual recordings and sessions inside the app, and remove all app data at once by uninstalling Daily Hifzul Quran. Since we hold no account linked to you, uninstalling is a complete deletion of everything the app stored. If you have any question about your data, email us using the address below.
11. Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes what, if anything, leaves your device, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above in the same release. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
